Kevin McGee, the 32-year old former husband of Little Britain star Matt Lucas, has been found dead at his flat in Edinburgh.
Just four hours before committing suicide, McGee posted a suicide note on Facebook. It read, “Kevin McGee thinks that death is much better than life”.Four hours later, he was found hanged in the apartment.
Matt Lucas is the flamboyant, gay star of Little Britain. He plays the characters Vicky Pollard, disabled Andy Pipkin, slimming instructor Marjorie Dawes, the overweight socialite Bubbles DeVere and homophobic homosexual Daffyd Thomas.
Today his close friend and co-star David Walliams was consoling him.
Lucas married McGee in a ceremony in December 2006 in London. Guests included Elton John and Courtney Love.
The couple separated 18 months later and became the first high profile gay couple to divorce. Lucas had Mishcon de Reya, the same solicitor who acted for Heather Mills against Paul McCartney to act on his behalf.
Lucas is reported to be “utterly destroyed” by McGee’s suicide.
