Former Wilco member Jay Bennett, who split with the band in 2001, is suing the voice behind the band, Jeff Tweedy for breach of contract.
Bennett, whose departure was far from amicable, is seeking $50,000 in damages, according to the Chicago Breaking News.He claimed he was only paid 15% of royalties during his time in the band and was not paid for his appearance in the film ‘I Am Trying To Break Your Heart’.
Bennett was a multi-instrumentalist in the band and also contributed to production on the band’s first three albums. Since his departure he has released five solo albums and appeared as a solo musician for artists like Sheryl Crowe and Billy Joe Shaver amongst others.
