Sean 'Diddy' Combs is being sued for almost $US20 million by a former associate.
James Sabatino was a consultant for Diddy's Bad Boy Entertainment company and claims that the owed money relates to a 1994 recording by the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.Sabatino filed suit from in prison, where he currently resides. He claims he paid for travel expenses and studio time for the recording, and had entered in a verbal contract with Diddy over his retaining of the rights to the recording.
Following the murder of Notorious B.I.G. in 1997, Diddy apparently told Sabatino that he'd pay him $US200,000 for the rights, and forwarded an advance of $US25,000. But he claims the rest of the money was not paid due to Sabatino being named at the time as a person of interest in the unsolved homicide.
Whilst Diddy didn't believe Sabatino had anything to do with the murder, he claims he was hesitant to give money to a publicly named person of interest. Diddy had also been questioned by police over B.I.G.'s murder. His lawyers are yet to comment on the suit.
