Melbourne’s own Eddy Current Suppression Ring have won the Australian Music Prize, taking out the grand prize of $30,000.
The band beat out spectacular entries from C.W. Stoneking, Beaches and The Drones after being shortlisted down from hundreds of entries from all styles right across Australia.The band won the prize for their second album ‘Primary Colours’.
Eddy Current first gained popularity around Melbourne thanks to their energetic live shows. This lead to a successful US tour and a spot on the legendary garage rock festival Goner Fest in Memphis and a dedicated following across Australia and the USA.
