A little US love and an Australian Music Prize nomination has meant a great start for 09 for Eddy Current Suppression Ring.
Singer Brendan Huntley (aka Brendan Suppression) has says the Americans are getting excited about the band after a Memphis record company decided to pick them up.“Goner Records, who run a festival and a label in Memphis, heard our first album and thought it was good,” he tells Undercover News. “They asked us to come over and play the festival. We played the festival and did a tour and they asked about the second album. They really dug it when they heard it and wanted to put it out. From there they got it around and that's how it worked”.
That second album was Primary Colours, now short-listed for the Australian Music Prize.
It is up against the following the the Australian Music Prize:
Apocalypso - The Presets
Beaches - Beaches
Havilah - The Drones
In Ghost Colours - Cut Copy
Jungle Blues - CW Stoneking
Love Is Gone - Jack Ladder
Presque Vu - Tom Cooney
