Songwriters and composers have until December 1 to enter the APRA Professional Development Awards.
$120k is up in cash and prizes for 8 winners.Each winner will receive $12000 cash for study or travel, a Gibson Guitar, studio time at Trackdown Recording Studio and access to an online course from the Berklee School Of Music.
The APRA Professional Development Awards have been around since 2001. They are designed to recognize young, original music creators.
To date, APRA has awarded 20 songwriters with cash and prizes.
The program has helped break the career of Sally Seltmann (New Buffalo) who wrote the Fiest hit 1-2-3-4, Mia Dyson, composer Michael Yezerski, jazz composer Mace Francis and NZ hip-hop writer John Chong-Nee.
