The JB Seed Grant Program, funded by John Butler, is set to close for applications within a month.
The 2007 fund has a wider group of categories than in the first two years. The program has introduced a Hip-Hop category for an indigenous applicant this year. "We are very excited about this year's categories" Butler says. "We feel that we are consolidating programs that we know work and are relevant, whilst still branching out into new territories. The indigenous hip hop competition is driven by wanting to further expose the awesome indigenous mc's and hip hop groups out there. I also feel the genre hasn't seen the attention it deserves and more exposure can only encourage our dynamic culture. With the social activism through the arts category we all felt that the nuclear energy/uranium mining debate really continues to deserve as much attention, investigation and discussion as possible - especially in this, an election year. We believe The JB Seed categories for 2007 will further our commitment and passion to exploring and developing a unified yet dynamic Australian culture".The JB Seed is seeking expressions of interest for the following programs in 2007:
• SPEAK: INDIGENOUS HIP HOP COMPETITION
• SOCIAL ACTIVISM THROUGH THE ARTS PROGRAM
• PROFESSIONAL AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
• THE JB SEED INITIATIVE: MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP - 20 opportunities available
Expressions of interest are currently being accepted for The JB Seed Arts Grants Program 2007 and close on 16th March 2007. Don't delay please go to the web site www.thejbseed.com to get the full run down on each category and to download your application forms or email: grants@thejbseed.com
