Paul McCartney will become the first Beatle to play in Israel.
Benny Dudkevitch of Israeli radio Kol-Israel tells Undercover News that Sir Paul “will give one show in Tel-Aviv on 25 September 2008. The deal was signed last night”.McCartney will play the historic concert in Tel Aviv.
This will be the first time any Beatle will have performed in the country although The Beatles had planned to play there in 1965 but were refused entry visa.
It was thought at the time that the band would be a corrupting influence on the youth.
Earlier this year, more than 40 years after refusing The Beatles entry, Israel officially apologised to McCartney and the only other surviving Beatle Ringo Starr.
Benny also tells Undercover that McCartney is scheduled for “a short tour in Jerusalem and a meeting with president Shimon Peres”.
“It will be the greatest rock show ever been here in Israel,” he says.
The concert will be held at Hayarkon Park. It is expected to attract 70,000 people.
