Death isn't getting in the way of the career of Judy Garland. The Wizard of Oz movie star and mother of Lisa Minelli and Lorna Luft is about to do a few gigs with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Judy Garland In Concert will use technology to bring Judy back to life on stage singing her greatest hits including the Wizard of Oz classic 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'.The show will use video images, photographs and home movies to recreate Judy on stage with the orchestra.
The show has received family approval. "I'll never forget watching my mom perform," said Judy Garland's son, Joe Luft, "the passion she brought to the stage and the way she could captivate an audience. I believe Judy Garland In Concert captures that experience."
John Fricke, the creative supervisor for the show calls Judy "the original American Idol".
Judy Garland died in 1969.
Judy Garland In Concert with the Boston Pops Orchestra is on June 28 and 29 at the Symphony Hall, Boston, Massachusetts.
