Australian rock legend Ross Wilson has been invited to Eagle Rock, California to perform his Daddy Cool classic 'Eagle Rock' for the Eagle Rock Music Festival in October.
Eagle Rock is a neighborhood of Los Angeles, not far from Glendale. At Eagle Rock, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon wrote 'Good Will Hunting' while living there. Barrack Obama and Luke Wilson also lived there when they attended Occidental College. Eagle Rock was also where Superman's Lois Lane actress Margot Kidder was found wandering the streets homeless back in 1996.This year will be the 10th annual Eagle Rock Music Festival. Ross Wilson jumped at the chance to perform the song he wrote 38 years ago at the event.
The original song by Wilson's Daddy Cool was a number one hit in Australia in 1971 and went top 20 again in 1982.
More recently, Wilson re-recorded the song as King Mondo with The Wiggles.
Meanwhile, Wilson has re-recorded the song once again for his new album 'Tributary'. He has given the song a 1908 feel in an attempt to capture what it may have sounded like had it was written 100 years ago.
'Tributary' is from the Liberation acoustic series. For the album, Wilson has re-recorded his old songs from Daddy Cool, Mondo Rock and his solo years.
'Tributary' will be released in stores tomorrow (Saturday May 10).
