The inner-Melbourne suburb of Elwood is celebrating 10 years of blues at the Elwood RSL.
The Elwood RSL Blues Jam is a non-profit organization with a weekly event for local musicians to come along and play.Every Sunday at around 5.30pm, the blues begins. Artists who have turned up to jam include Spectrum's Bill Putt and Mike Rudd, Dutch Tilders, Andy Cowan, Lloyd Spiegel and Fiona Boyce along with house-band King Size Five.
Roger Nelson, harmonica player and singer together with Adrian Reeves, keyboard player, Neil Rote, bass player and guitarist and Mark Gove, guitarist, along with the various sit-in drummers including Rob O'Toole, Peter Hodges and Andy Shields, make up are King Size Five.
"Elwood and St Kilda are home to many professional musicians who have contributed to Australian blues and roots music for a considerable time, and it is this talent brought together in a dynamic way that is the Elwood RSL's charm," house-band member and organiser Adrian Reeves said in a statement.
"The venue itself hosts many musicians to small but enthralled gatherings; the Blues Jam is the pinnacle of this curious mix," he added.
