Gil Matthews, Aztecs' drummer and grand poobah of Aztec Music, has compiled a labour of love - The Complete Havoc Singles 1971-1973.
Havoc Records was a short-lived Melbourne record label. It's biggest hit was the Oz rock classic 'Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy' by Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs.The label released Lobby Loyde and the Coloured Balls, Carson, The Wild Cherries and TV show host Jeff Phillips.
Matthews was the house engineer and producer for Havoc and had his own solo release with 'Little Dove'/'Gil's Thing'.
Gil has cleaned up the complete collection of the singles plus b-sides for the release, along with two bonus tracks.
According to the liner notes from the album, "Havoc went on to issue 19 singles and five albums (Aztecs Live, A City's Child soundtrack, Star Spangled Banger and Australian Rock 71 - 72) before Frank Smith (driving force behind the label and respected Jazz musician), died from a heart attack in early 1973. Then when Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs left the label in May 1973 to record for Warner/Atlantic and Rod De Gruchy resigned to concentrate on managing the Coloured Balls...Havoc folded".
