The on-duty policeman who provided visiting singer k.d. lang with a motorcycle escort on Sunday night is now being questioned by his superiors.
kd arrived in Melbourne late on Sunday for a planned television appearance after her flight from Perth was delayed.Arrangements were made within the lang entourage or Rove Enterprises for the escort so that the singer would make the show.
Police escorts are only available for Heads of State and dignitaries.
The police escort for the singer to attend a television interview was branded a total waste of resources and taxpayer money. The incident is now being investigated by the police commissioner personally.
k.d. lang appeared on the Rove program on Sunday night. On the show, host Rove McManus joked about the escort.
Rove has faced a year of declining ratings. It was questionable last year if the show was to return after a disastrous 2007 season but Network 10 resigned the show for another year.
