k.d. lang has covered the Little River Band’s ‘Reminiscing’ on her new album ‘Sing It Loud’.
‘Reminiscing’ was written by LRB’s Graeham Goble for the 1978 ‘Sleeper Catcher’ album. The single reached no. 3 in the USA and is one of the most played songs of all-time on American radio.
In 2010, the song was used in the Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg movie ‘The Other Guys’. Barry Manilow covered it on 1996 and Australian dance act Madison Avenue did a danced up version in 2001.
Graeham Goble is based in Melbourne making this the second time k.d. has connected with Melbourne in song. On her last album, 2008’s ‘Watershed’ k.d. paid homage to the City of Melbourne in the song ‘I Dream of Spring’. The lyrics of the song included the line “I’ll return from the streets of Melbourne/I’ll return my love”.
k.d. lang will be in Australia next week to announce dates for her November tour.
