Tehran has played host to the first Western orchestra since the Islamic revolution of 1979.
Germany's Osnabrueck Symphony Orchestra performed in front of 850 enthusiastic concert-goers in the Iranian capital, during a tense period between the country and the West.The female orchestra members wore headscarves in accordance with the country's strict dress code. Performing pieces by Beethoven, Brahms and Elgar, the orchestra was met with a "very warm welcoming reception", according to organiser Martin Ebbing.
