The Veronicas have become the first Australian act since Kylie Minogue in 2002 to make the Top 20 in the United States.
‘Untouched’ by The Veronicas is currently sitting at number 17 on the US chart after selling 758,000 units to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.Kylie went as high as number 7 in 2002 with ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’. It was a great effort at the time for Kylie who’s only other US hit was ‘The Loco-motion’ which reached number 3 in 1988. (That song was incorrectly titled ‘Locomotion’ when it was released in Australia in the previous year).
The Veronicas are sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso from Brisbane, Queensland.
The released their first album ‘The Secret Life Of ...’ in 2005. It peaked at number 2 in Australia.
‘Untouched’ is the opening track of their 2007 sophomore album ‘Hook Me Up’. ‘Untouched’ was the second single from the album in Australia, peaking at number two on the ARIA chart.
So far, Australia has had five singles from that album, all of which have been Top 20 hits. The first, ‘Hook Me Up’ went to number 1. ‘Untouched’ made it to 2, ‘This Love’ peaked at no. 10, ‘Take Me On The Floor’ went to 7 and ‘Popular’ reached 11.
