The success of Gnarls Barkley is bittersweet for members Cee-Lo Green and Danger Mouse.
Both artists involved in the project have several artistic ventures to go on with, but the continuing popularity of Gnarls Barkley has restricted their future work with other artists. Green told Billboard that the group didn't even plan on touring as an act before the unexpected success of 'St.Elsewhere' and particularly the 'Crazy' single (which they removed from sale). Now, they're three months into a US, UK and Canadian tour.Danger Mouse has been planning a collaboration with Sparklehorse, and Green planned to reunite with Goodie Mob after he recently worked with Jazze Pha, but it has all had to be put on hold. In fact, the Cee-Lo/Jazze Pha album, which was slated for release before 'St. Elsewhere', may not ever be released according to Green.
While the pair may be protesting about their success, they do plan to continue Gnarls Barkley and record a follow-up. Since the first album was the result of a casual effort, Green said, "Now, with what it's become, I'd like to see what we could do if we really, really focused."
