Danger Mouse grabs Jack White and Norah Jones to add vocals to his new Rome project.
The uber-producer is best known for Gnarls Barkley with Cee-Lo Green and Broken Bells with James Mercer of The Shins.
But ever restless, his new project with film composer Daniele Luppi was born from a shared love of ‘70s Spaghetti Western soundtracks.
Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) told The Guardian that he played some of the music from the Rome sessions to Jack White.
White was into it, and Burton brought him on board to counterpoint Luppi’s vocals.
He also brought in Norah Jones as a female lead to bounce off White’s leading man.
The music for Rome was recorded a converted church called The Forum in its namesake city over three trips to Italy.
There isn’t a release date for the Rome project yet, because Danger Mouse recorded it off his own bat without aligning with a label.
