Aussie pop star Lynne Randell has died of a suspected suicide.
The 57 year old singer became a teen star in 1967 when her hit 'Ciao Baby' not only topped the Australian charts and also graced the US chart.Lynne had a long term battle with addiction, dating back to the 60s when she toured with Jimi Hendrix and The Monkees.
Her Australian career took off via the new media of the time, television. She shared her screen time with other new acts of the day including Olivia Newton-John and Peter Allen.
A highlight of her career was sharing the same stage as Ike and Tina Turner at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
In the 80s, she moved to LA and became known for her parties. Everyone came including Robert Plant, George Harrison and Cher. She was known as the "crazy lady from Australia".
Upon returning to Australia, she worked for a time as the personal assistant to Ian 'Molly' Meldrum.
Fans can farewell Lynne at a sunset party on St Kilda Beach on July 21.
