Sean Kelly will pay tribute to the late James Freud at the Vote Serge concert tomorrow night in Melbourne.
‘Vote Serge – The Concert : One Step From Spring Street’ is a benefit concert for Cr. Serge Thomann’s move into state government at the Victorian election in 10 days.
Thomann, a music photographer and well-known St Kilda identity, was elected to St Kilda Council after campaigning to stop the corporate destruction of the St Kilda triangle area.
The concert tomorrow night will also include an appearance from Attack of the Mannequins, the band featuring James Freud’s sons. “James was a nice gentleman with a big heart. In fact, James was the first performer to say yes to my concert and it is very sad that he is no longer with us. My sincere sympathy to his wife and sons,” Thomann said in a statement.
“I spoke to James’ wife and she told me that their sons’ band Attack of the Mannequins will still perform on the night in honour of their dad and I thank them for this kind gesture. The night will have a special feel now, as many among the artists were close to James. I’ll dedicate the concert to James as well as my other two friends who are no longer with us, Lynne Randell and Michael Hutchence,” he added.
Other performers include Kate Ceberano, Ross Wilson, Renee Geyer, Pseudo Echo, Dale Ryder, Normie Rowe and Scott Carne.
The concert will be on tomorrow night November 17 at The Palace in Melbourne.
