Novelty Australian act The Androids are set to return to commercial airwaves with a new single, 'Whole Lotta Love' - and it's not a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic, apparently.
You may remember The Androids from such novelty hits as 2003's 'Do It With Madonna', and ... actually, that's pretty much it. They had a couple of other singles, 'Here She Comes' and 'Brand New Life', which have since joined follow-up singles from The Knack, Wheatus and Baha Men in forgotten purgatory. It remains to be seen if 'Whole Lotta Love' will receive a similar fate, though blatantly ripping off the title of a seminal rock tune will undoubtedly keep it in the public eye for longer than necessary. Still, perhaps they are just doing to Led Zeppelin what Led Zeppelin did to decades of black American blues music.
A representative for Sony/BMG, the band's new record label, told Ben Butler's Music Industry News column on Tuesday, "I'm yet to hear 'Whole Lotta Love', however I do believe that it is an original, it just shares the same name."
The single will be released April 28 in Australia.
