According to the press release both bands have taken notes from Weezer's musical style and also begun to show signs of echoing the Californian band's relentless success. Hmmmm these two bands are bands in their own right, why does everything need to be compared in order to be justified as good or worthy? Both bands are worthy wholly without the Weezer comparison.
I wonder if either band set out to take notes from Weezer's musical style? My guess is that they wanted to express their own musical style, vision and dream... why else would you form a band? Comparisons are the laziest way to describe bands and the music they make.
Cloud Control and Ball Park Music will be joining Weezer for four Australian shows in January, starting at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Sunday 13th January, Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on Wednesday 16th January, Sydney Entertainment Centre on Saturday 19th January, and Perth Arena on Wednesday 23rd January.
Just so you know (if you didn't already) Cloud Control play intelligent quirky indie pop and have a distinctive flavour all of their own. Ball Park Music write and perform funny , intelligent, experimental catchy naughties pop for good children with a sense of humour. Regardless of comparisons with the headliner or the number of accolades each has received, you'll have fun when you see them play in support of the original indie rock & roll geeks, Weezer.
