Deerhoof have had tribute paid to them by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, with the help of his sons Spenser and Sam in a split “clear pink” 7” which is available for preorder now.
The A-side features Tweedy adding lyrics to the Deerhoof instrumental ‘Behold A Raccoon in the Darkness’ (actually, the original is ‘Behold A Marvel in the Darkness’, but Tweedy changed it) and the B-side is The Raccoonists (Jeff Tweedy and his kids) playing their original ‘Own It’.
There isn’t much to say about the A-side, which sounds exactly like Tweedy fronting Deerhoof. The B-side, ‘Own It‘ is a trashy rock ‘n‘ roll song that would be just as welcome on a ‘Pebbles‘ compilation as it is on this record.
You can click here to preorder the vinyl (did I mention it’s CLEAR PINK?), or if you’re more of a techy type, you can also buy the digital version of the EP. There are only 2000 of the 7”s available. Actually, since I’ve just ordered one, make that 1999.
