Alt-metal supergroup A Perfect Circle debuted a new song live and, of course, someone taped it.
The band, currently featuring Tool members Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel, ex-Smashing Pumpkin James Iha, Matt McJunkins and drum god Josh Freese, haven’t released a new album since 2004.
A Perfect Circle went on hiatus from 2005 to 2008 but began writing again, saying that songs would most likely come out digitally.
Then last year they starting winding back up with live dates. Vacillating about how new material might be delivered didn’t stop them booking gigs, and they’re currently in the middle of a North American tour.
Howerdel said they’d be roadtesting songs during the tour and Metal Underground alerts us to a YouTube video of the band from their Portland show last week.
They played an eerie new song reportedly called ‘By And Down’ at the show in Oregon. Have a listen below.
