Australia’s X-Factor winner Altiyan Childs held back tears in a television interview this evening as he faced questions over the arrest of his manager.
Steve Gold, Childs’ manager and house-mate, was arrested last week on illegal weapons charges after police raided their Sydney home. Childs lived at the house in the Sydney suburb of Ramsgate with Gold and seven other people.
In an interview with Today Tonight, Childs said that he was out of pocket more than $300,000 since his association with Gold and would be better off going back to work in his former profession as a fork-lift driver.
Today Tonight also quizzed the 35-year old Childs about his 19-year old girlfriend and the false rumours that he was also the executor of a will of a 15-year old.
Steve Gold (real name Steven Yankuloff) was arrested on April 1 and faced Bankstown Court last Thursday. Police had confiscated two rifles, a Taser, a knuckleduster and a semi-automatic pellet gun during the raid as well as equipment used to manufacture illegal drugs and 500grams of Cannabis.
Gold was granted bail and released following the hearing. The court heard that the case was weak and that it was difficult to determine who belonged to the weapons because of the number of people who lived at the house.
