Slacker king Beck has produced a new solo album for Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore.
This isn’t the first Moore solo effort, and he’s been very active in collaborations, but he spoke to Philadelphia Weekly about a new album he just wrapped up with Beck.
It will be called Benediction and was recorded in Beck’s Southern Californian home studio, with Beck on the decks.
Moore noted, “Beck sings and plays a little bit on it.”
He’s also had some help from violinist Samara Lubelski and harpist Mary Lattimore, who his is currently doing some dates with in Philadelphia.
The last time Beck and Moore worked together was on Beck’s series of cover albums called The Record Club, where they and members of Tortoise recreated Yanni’s Live At The Acropolis.
Benediction will be released on Matador Records but doesn’t have a release date just yet.
