Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard was rocking out in the Yarra Valley outside Melbourne last night (December 4, 2010) to one of her favorite artists Blondie.
The Prime Minister was one of 7000 punters who attended the A Day On The Green concert featuring Blondie and The Pretenders.
Prime Minister Gillard has been a long time supporter of the music industry. When she was Deputy Prime Minister Ms Gillard was the patron of the Australian Jazz Awards and attended the presentations and dinner to meet with the artists. She also launched the Melbourne Jazz Festival in 2008.
In her first cultural event as Prime Minister, Julia Gillard spoke about the importance of the Arts at the 2010 Literary Awards.
The Prime Minister took a seat in with the audience at the Blondie gig last night.
It would be interesting to hear her review of the show. Blondie roadtested a lot of new songs in the set as a well as the classic hits ‘Hanging On The Telephone’, ‘Union City Blue’, ‘Atomic’, ‘The Tide Is High’, Rapture’, ‘Call Me’, ‘One Way Or Another’ and ‘Heart Of Glass’.
Blondie played before The Pretenders. For this co-headline tour Blondie and The Pretenders alternate who goes on first.
