Lady Gaga mistakenly thought Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard was a lesbian when she was asked a question on Australian television last night.
Gaga was asked if she thought the Prime Minister was a hypocrite for not recognising gay marriage when she was herself living in an unmarried relationship with her partner.
The faux pas occurred on the news program A Current Affair, seen nationally across Australia at prime time 6:30pm.
Lady Gaga thought host Tracey Grimshaw was referring to a lesbian relationship when she referred to the Australian Prime Minister’s “partner”. Gaga’s interpretation of “partner” was to mean a gay person.
After the show, Gaga had a night out in Sydney performing at two gay nightclubs.
