Swedish acoustic troubadour Jose Gonzalez promises stacks of work in the pipeline.
Best known for his tentative, morose acoustic covers of alternative hits (Massive Attack's 'Teardrop', Kylie's 'Hand On Your Heart' and The Knife's 'Heartbeats' which featured in Sony's coloured balls advert for their Bravia), Gonzalez promises two EPs and his second album.Pitchfork reports that Gonzalez has just issued an iTunes-only five song EP dubbed 'Live Sessions'. His side-project Junip, with Tobias Winterkorn and Elias Araya, will release its debut EP 'Black Refuge' digitally before year-end. The EP was previously only available from Swedish indie Temeshet, but the trio promise a new single and Gonzalez a new solo album in 2007.
Gonzalez has also ended a promising year with a performance in a Beatles tribute for VH1 to celebrate George Martin's induction into the UK Music Hall Of Fame. He performed alongside Razorlight's Johnny Borrell, Roger Taylor and Corinne Bailey Rae.
The Swede's clip for 'Crosses' has also been nominated for Best Video of 2006 on MTV2 and his work with electro act Zero 7 has been acknowledged with a Grammy Nomination in the Best Electronic/Dance Album category.
