I`ve been waiting for The Break for over a year. Brian Ritchie from Violent Femmes unveiled the band in an Undercover interview in 2008. It is three parts Midnight Oil, one part Violent Femmes. Now they are ready to rock.
The Break will be different to what you know of The Oils and The Femmes. They are an instrument surf band.Midnight Oil started out playing the pubs of Sydney’s northern beaches so in a way, Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey and Jim Moginie are coming full circle with The Break.
In fact, Midnight Oil did do the instrument surf thing once with ‘Wedding Cake Island’.
The album ‘Church of the Open Sky’ will be released in April.
