Hobart’s Mona Foma has been nominated for a Helpmann Award.
The Helpmann Awards recognise excellence in Australia’s live performing arts.
Mona Foma is the annual festival in Hobart curated by former Violent Femmes bass player, now a member of Australia’s The Break, Brian Ritchie.
After hearing about the nomination Brian told Undercover.fm, "Mona Foma is very pleased to have garnered enough attention in three years to be nominated for this award. We started out as a fun party to pass the time while waiting for Mona to open and have evolved into a destination for music and art lovers from around the globe. The public has embraced the diversity of our programming which ranges from pipe organ concerts to hip hop pyrotechnics. Artists feel comfortable in our zone."
Mona Foma has been nominated for Best Contemporary Music Festival along with Splendour In The Grass, Vivid Live and Byron Bay Bluesfest.
