Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy will get behind the desk to record the next Mavis Staples album.
Gospel / Soul legend Mavis Staples will record the album in Wilco’s the Irving Park Loft studio in Chicago where the band made ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ and ‘Sky Blue Sky’.70-year old Mavis Staples began work in her “family business” the Staples Singles in 1950, 7 years before she left school.
In the 60s, the Staples Singers, lead by Roebuck ‘Pop’ Staples where the epitome of American soul.
Over the years, Mavis has recorded with Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Nona Hendryx and George Jones.
Patti sang in the concert movies ‘The Last Waltz (The Band) and Graffiti Bridge (Prince).
Her last album ‘Live: Hope at the Hideout” in 2008 and the last studio album was ‘We’ll Never Turn Back’ in 2007.
