Universal Music was once again the biggest record company in the USA.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, 30.2% of all music sold in the United States last year were from Universal acts.The company was down a 1.32% share on the previous year but still maintained its lead.
Second was Sony with a 28.58% market share, up 3.28% on the previous year.
Warner had a 20.55% share while EMI grabbed 9.2% of the market.
Indie labels had 16.14% of the US music market, slightly down from the 16.5% figure of the previous year.
