Rage Against The Machine or Simon Cowell X-Factor winner Joe McElderry. Who will have the number one song in England at the end of this week?
Believe it or not, the Facebook campaign to Rage Against Simon Cowell is working with the 1992 Rage Against The Machine song ‘Killing In The Name’ selling around 20% more than the X-Factor winner’s ‘The Climb’ midweek. On Wednesday, ‘Killing In The Name’ had sold 253,476 units compared to ‘The Climb’ with 216,795 sales.
However, the Joe McElderry single has a trump card. The physical CD version of the song was also released yesterday giving it a second half of the week advantage.
Simon Cowell has slammed the Facebook campaign as “cynical”. Well, why wouldn’t he, but it appears to be working.
Cowell is so worried that stores have been told to lower the price of the McElderry song to increase sales. In a Twitter post Tom Morello mentioned, Fearing the will of the people, XFactor pressures stores to lower price of song to boost sales. Rage fans buy Killing multiples in response.”
All shall be revealed at the end of the week.
