Elvis Costello and the Attractions live from Hollywood High School from 1978 will be given a CD release.
Costello was introduced to the USA that year with the show at Hollywood High taking place on June 4, 1978.His second album ‘This Year’s Model’ was released three months earlier. Nick Lowe was the producer of the audio tracks for the concert, as he was for the first five Costello albums.
The historic 20-song set was recorded and will be released for the first time including 11 previously unreleased recordings.
The show featured the not yet released ‘Accidents Will Happen’, ‘Party Girl’ and ‘Goon Squad’ which surfaced on the next album ‘Armed Forces’.
From Costello's 1977 debut album My Aim Is True, the show included "Alison," "(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes," "Mystery Dance," "Waiting For The End Of The World," "Miracle Man" and "Watching The Detectives." From This Year's Model, the band cranked out "Pump It Up," "The Beat," "Lip Service," "(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea" (only on the U.K. album), "Radio Radio" (only on the U.S. edition), "Lipstick Vogue," "No Action," "This Year's Girl," "Living In Paradise" and "You Belong To Me" plus the bonus single "Stranger In The House."
Some of the tracks were previously released as a bonus disc for the reissued ‘Armed Forces’ album but this will be the first time the complete show has been made available.
Universal will release the album on January 12, 2010 as part of an on-going series of Elvis Costello shows. Later in 2010, Universal will also release a Royal Albert Hall show and a Royalty Theater show frm London.
