Midnight Oil drummer and historian Rob Hirst has joined the 70 strong panel of judges for The Amp 2006.
The Amp features a 70 strong panel of industry music identities, including Undercover's Tim Cashmere, who collectively decide the most best and innovative Australian music of the year.In 2005, Melbourne's The Drones won the inaugural Amp Award.
Already over 150 artists have submitted their music for consideration for the 2006 award. Amongst them Ultimo, Bob Evans, The Endless Sea, Ash Grunwald, True Live and You Am I as well as news music for 2006 from The Drones.
Additional acts have until December 1 to be a part of The Amp.
The Short List 8 will be announced on January 31st, 2007 with the winner announced on March 7th.
The winner will receive a cash prize of $25,000 from PPCA as well as the true prize, recognition from their peers in the Australian Music Industry.
