With the release of the new Wolfmother album `Cosmic Egg` also comes a Facebook game.
Fans can customise their very own virtual egg on their profile by dragging and dropping the icons on the left onto the egg. The more the user interacts with the egg, the more content it unlocks- there’s free music (3 tracks), loads of videos and photos/wallpapers to be found. Sending it on to people also unlocks more content, and as time goes on more things appear to customise your egg with.The album 'Cosmic Egg’ is released October 26th via Modular Records.
Brothers and sisters sound the siren, the long-awaited return of Wolfmother is well and truly upon us. It is official, the transcendental dreamweavers will return with a wonderfully ambitious new record, Cosmic Egg, scheduled for release on October 26th via Modular records. This will be preceded by the release of the huge monster of a first single, New Moon Rising, which is due on Oct 12th.
The band hit the UK October 21st to play a huge show at London’s Coronet. They fly in off the back of a USA supporting The Killers, and their mammoth Australian series of theatre dates in the second half of September.
The band were last in the UK this August where they touched down briefly to play at tiny, packed out show at London’s Lexington - it was rammed to the rafters and Lars Ulrich (Metallica) was down the front row.
It’s been a long road back following the internationally lauded, self-titled debut Wolfmother record, one that sold over 1.4 million copies worldwide in 2006- earning praise across the world and culminating in a US Grammy.
The seeds for Cosmic Egg were sown when the touring cycle for the debut record came to a close, and frontman and guitarist Andrew Stockdale sat down to start from scratch at his home studio in Brisbane. Following an extensive gestation period and the enlisting of three new band members, Stockdale and his new counterparts along with with producer Alan Moulder, rode ashore in picturesque hippy mecca Byron Bay, Australia to begin pre-production.
Moulder brought a giant hessian sack of worldly producer experience to the table having previously worked with the likes of My Bloody Valentine, The Smashing Pumpkins, Ride and Nine Inch Nails. The recording process moved to Los Angeles - a location that added another dimension of rich experience to Cosmic Egg and the perfect place to make magic from one’s own mind, a fact concisely reinforced in the resulting 50-odd minute suite.
Lead single, New Moon Rising, is a thumping, ripping slice of optimistic future-blues, complete with textbook flaming Wolfmother guitar and huge bludgeoning drums. It’s a thrilling rush of good times and one that’s sure to be inescapable very soon.
