Spandau Ballet have recorded their first new music in two decades.
In November, the reformed band will release the new album ‘Once More’ and the title track as a single. The album will feature two new songs including the title track plus new versions of their classics.
Spandau Ballet reformed for their first public appearance in 19 years in the ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross’ show on April 24, 2009. It is the original line-up featuring Tony Hadley, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp, Steve Norman and John Keeble.
On September 15 they announced they would be touring in February and March 2010.
“When we got back together and the tour dates went on sale, none of us could believe the fantastic reaction we got from fans and the press alike,” Tony Hadley said. “When the opportunity came to get into a studio and play music together, we couldn’t pass it up”.
Gary Kemp added, “The band gelled immediately and we immediately played better than we did even back in the day. The new song was a way for us to show that Spandau Ballet are back, not just to play the hits on tour but also to take on our contemporaries in the pop charts!”
Spandau Ballet’s last album was ‘Heart Like A Sky’ in 1989.
Their hits include ‘To Cut A Long Story Short’ (1980), ‘Chant No. 1’ (1981), ‘She Loved Like Diamond’ (1982), ‘Communication’, ‘True’, ‘Gold’ (1983), ‘Only When You Leave’, ‘I’ll Fly For You’ (1984), ‘Round and Round’ 1985) and ‘Through The Barricades’ 1986).
