The original line-up of Painters and Dockers will reform for a one off performance at the 2009 The Age EG Awards in November.
Painters and Dockers were around in 1982 and never expected to go further than one night. It lasted long enough to crack the Top 40 with the single ‘Nude School’.‘‘Being in a band with someone is just as full-on a relationship as with any partner. It says a lot about the esteem and respect that we hold the EG Awards in that we are going to leave all our past crap behind and do the
show.’’
‘‘I was never going to play ever again,’’ adds singer-guitarist Chris O’Connor. ‘‘But I thought, ‘this is something I wouldn’t want to miss out on’. It’s been good to see the guys again, let some water under the bridge and do it one more time. I have always loved EG, it is the bible of rock ‘n’ roll. When you were a kid, before the internet and mobile phones, that’s the first thing
you did, opened EG to see what you would do for the rest of the week.’’
The Age EG Awards will be held at the Prince Bandroom in St Kilda on November 20. Also performing this year will be Tex Perkins, Bertie Blackman, Dan Sultan, Henry Wagons, the Wolfgramm Sisters and Jack Howard;s horn section.
The show will be hosted by Fee B Squared from Triple R.
Tickets are $35. All proceeds will go to Support Act Ltd, the charity to help ailing musicians.
