Henry Wagons has bolted to a strong lead in the Best Male category of this year’s EG Awards in The Age online poll, counting down to the awards night at Billboard on November 20.
In the Best Song category Tame Impala’s Elephant is also well in front with a host of others, including Something For Kate’s Survival Expert, Chet Faker’s No Diggity and Drums by Oh Mercy chomping at the bit...
US musician Jack White’s tour of Australia is leading the Best Tour category, but there’s still two weeks to vote and grab tickets to the seventh annual EG Awards, which this year inducts Weddings Parties Anything into the Steve Waldon Hall of Fame. Joining Weddings Parties Anything on stage will be Courtney Barnett, the Murlocs and Immigrant Union, while Alexander Gow (Oh Mercy), Angie Hart, Jess Cornelius (Teeth & Tongue), Mikelangelo, Ben Salter, Van Walker and Liz Stringer and Emma Russack are among this year’s guest vocalists playing with the EG All Stars.
Weddings Parties Anything, who will be inducted on the night by Tim Rogers, will celebrate with a 25th anniversary performance of their 1987 debut album, Scorn of the Women. Joining them for this one-off show will be original WPA member — and the writer of several Scorn tracks — Dave Steel.
Voting in the EG Awards is open until November 16 at The Age website, theage.com.au/egawards
