Guitar wiz Ry Cooder is joining forces with singer/songwriter legend Nick Lowe to tour Australia in November.
It was Lowe that convinced Cooder to head out on the road, bringing him to Australia for the first time in 30 years. First they played a benefit gig in San Francisco, and now the world is their oyster.Nick Lowe has been a very diverse artist. His influence on punk rock is undoubted. As in house producer for Stiff Records he produced such artists as The Dammed and Elvis Costello & The Attractions.
Costello covered Lowe’s song ‘What’s So Funny About Peace, Love And Understanding?’ with rapturous success.
Cooder is recognised as one of the world’s greatest guitarists and is often put in the same league as Page, Hendrix and Clapton. He is a guitarist who is instantly recognisable from the first note he plays.
The pair come from such diverse musical backgrounds, but will together end up bringing all different worlds of music together in one great performance.
Also in the band will be Joachim Cooder, Ry’s son.
