Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid has spilled the beans of Toots and the Maytals’ new record being underway.
Reid said over twitter “Just back in from a recording session of Reggae legend Toots Hibbert. A GRIP of old pals played-Vincent Henry, Damon DuWhite, Cliff Branch!”When asked what this was for, Reid responded with “I think it's for Toot's new album-They were tracking a new song when I walked in! Very Old School funky too!”
Toots has been busy in the last couple of years, after winning a Grammy in 2004 for his album of duets ‘True Love’, he has then released a 6 CD box set entitled ‘Roots Reggae (The Early Jamaican Albums)’ in 2005, ‘World Is Turning’ also in 2005 and the Grammy nominated ‘Light Your Light’ in 2007.
There is no word on a release date or album title yet.
