Flix in the Stix returns in 2013 with a record number of events to celebrate year number five across twelve Australian regional centres on the East Coast. Joining the festivities will be The Whitlams.
Formed towards the end 1992 in Sydney's Newtown, the drummer-less lineup of Stevie Plunder, Tim Freedman, and Andy Lewis developed their songs acoustically on Satdee arvo's at "The Sando" in King Street. The gang of three enjoyed the usual formative months of beer, bonding and shockers of shows in which any group of like minded music makers delight.
In early 1993 they discovered just what could be achieved with a Kingswood station wagon and a bunch of gear, so, taking turns lying on the piano in the back, they headed off every six weeks to Byron Bay and Brisbane and became a real band.
Fast forward to 2012, Stevie Plunder is sadly no longer with us. The Whitlams have continued to play, write and record with co-founder Tim Freedman and constants for the last eight years Jak Housden on guitar, Warwick Hornby on bass guitar and Terepai Richmond on drums.
Held under the stars in awesome surrounds, including botanic gardens, sprawling paddocks and picture perfect vineyards, Flix in the Stix will undertake their most ambitious tour to date calling into multiple cities in Queensland and Victoria for the very first time.
