A private funeral for Michael Jackson will take place at his former home, Neverland Ranch, on Sunday (July 5, 2009).
A public viewing of the body will be held Friday with fans from all over the world expected to visit the property at 5225 Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos, CA 93441.It is still not clear where Jackson will be buried. Law requires an approval for a Neverland burial and many local residents are opposed to the burial there because it will turn their quiet town into a worldwide tourist attraction.
Jackson bought Neverland in 1988 and turned the ranch into his own private amusement park and zoo.
At one time, the property had 150 staff and cost Jackson $1,000,000 a month to run.
Jackson lost the property in 2008 when he defaulted on $24.5 million owed on the loan.
In November 2008 he transferred title to Sycamore Valley Ranch Company LLC but still owned a state in that company.
Michael’s father Joe Jackson yesterday denied the singer would be buried at Neverland although it is known that discussions are still happening to see if that is a viable option.
