German pop star Nena is about to become a grandmother at the age of 49.
Nena, world famous in the 80s for her hit ’99 Luftballoons’, told German newspaper The Bild that she was overjoyed when her 19-year old daughter Larissa told her the News.com.au“My first reaction was a huge, happy scream,” she told the paper.
Nena says the pregnancy is perfect for her daughter. “Larissa has a big family which includes her friends,” she said. “It is the most natural thing in the world that we will all be there for her when we are needed.”
’99 Luftballons’ was a number one hit all over the world in 1984.
Nena has had five children, the first, Christopher died at age 11. Larissa, born in 1990, is a twin.
During the 90s, Nena recorded a number of children’s albums and hosted a number of TV shows.
Her last album was ‘Himmel, Sonne, Wind und Regen’ in 2008.
