The FBI has been asked to investigate the death of actor David Carradine following conflicting reports out of Thailand.
72-year old Carradine was found dead this week in a luxury Bangkok hotel. Initial reports suggested suicide until it was revealed that Carradine was hung with his hands tied behind his back and cord around his neck and genitals.Stories of death by accidental autoerotic asphyxiation, a sex act when you strangle yourself almost to the point of passing out to reach orgasm, then surfaced bring back to mind the similar circumstances surrounding the death of INXS singer Michael Hutchence.
Thai police has ruled that their was no other evidence of someone in the room at the time of death but Carradine’s family is no convinced that their investigation to date is accurate.
The Carradine family has recruited attorney Mark Geragos, the guy who represented Michael Jackson and Phil Spector, to act on their behalf. He has confirmed that the FBI has been called in to look further.
"They've done it because of the conflicting reports and the nature of those reports that have given the family great pause," Geragos told Reuters.
The family has heard nothing directly from Thai police. They are relying totally on media reports at this stage for their information.
Carradine’s former wife Marina Anderson said yesterday that David would never have committed suicide.
An autopsy report is expected to take weeks.
Carradine was in Thailand working on the movie ‘Stretch’. Carradine still had some critical scenes to film before he died. The writers have been working at changing the storyline so that the movie can be completed with David Carradine.
