Paul Kelly took his guitar to far north Queensland to perform for students from Torres Strait and indigenous communities this week.
Kelly accepted the invitation to perform for the Djarragun College at Gordonvale, south of Cairns and played on his show on Wednesday.The students are from between Cape York and Yarrabah.
Kelly performed with the school’s music department and sat back while 19-year old student Maia Akiba took over his classic hit ‘To Her Door’.
The school runs a preventative program for kids who run the potential of getting into trouble with the law.
The school’s music department director John Grace called Kelly’s appearance “a morale booster”.
