Paul Kelly and Paul Grabowsky will perform together in a rare musical match with an orchestra and choir in July.
‘Meet Me In The Middle Of The Air’ features Kelly, one of Australia’s greatest ever singer-songwriters, Grabowsky, one the country’s best jazz musicians, Vika and Linda Bull on backing vocals, members of the Australian Art Orchestra and the Choir With No Name.
The concerts will take place in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Adelaide. This show has only ever been performed three times before.
About the performance, Kelly says, “I started a list and roped in a few secular hymns under the Mavis Staples, Prince principle - God and Sex are all mixed up. Stacked together they stand as Songs of Praise with ‘God Told Me Too’ the snake in the pile.”
Paul Grabowsky commented, “Each song is cast not only for the glorious voices of the Bull sisters and the definitive delivery of the St. Kilda bard (Paul Kelly) but for the musicians who have their own drama and personal poetry to lend to the songs.”
