The Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal will be boosted a further $1.6 million with thanks to Sony Music.
The Bushfire Aid album initiated by Sony Music Entertainment Chairman and CEO Denis Handlin AM at the time of the disaster has gone on to become one of the biggest selling albums of this year.“I am absolutely delighted with the public’s support for the Bushfire Aid CD which has now raised $1.6.! The support from retailers, TV, print and radio media partners, artists, composers, publishers and digital channels has been truly outstanding,” Denis tells Undercover News. Sony Music, with the help of Sony DADC manufacturing, was able to get the CD into market in record time. We look forward to presenting the donation cheque to the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal very soon in the bushfire affected area.”
‘Bushfire Aid - Artists For The Bushfire Appeal’ featured songs from Shannon Noll, Delta Goodrem, Wes Carr, Empire of the Sun, Anthony Callea, John Farnham, Vanessa Amorosi and Lee Kernaghan, to name a few.
Each artist that contributed to the released waived their royalties, as did Sony for its manufacturing costs.
Within days of the disaster, the album was in stores for people to buy.
All proceeds from the album went to the Sony Foundation to be distributed to the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal.
