The Sony music initiative to help raise money for the Australian Bushfire disaster has now raised just over $1.6 million.
Sony Music Denis Handlin head was quick to respond to the Australian bushfire disaster and produced ‘Bushfire Aid: Artists For The Bushfire Appeal’ just days after the Australian tragedy took place.The album features artists from Bruce Springsteen to Whitney Houston to Billy Joel through to local acts like Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Empire of the Sun and The Living End.
All artists contributing to the release waived their royalties for the project and the manufacturers of the CD waived their production costs.
As of this week, over $1.6 million has been raised from sales of the album with money going to the Salvation Army via The Sony Foundation.
